I was thinking yesterday about what it would be like to be a bumble-bee. You might consider me to be a bit strange but I think that all things like this should be thought about. Besides, you never know…

Anyway, it suddenly occurred to me just how accurate it is with that old ‘as busy as a bee’ saying. These guys really aren’t scared of hard work. In fact, they seem to enjoy it. If you go outside in your garden really early in the morning then you will find that they are already out there working away; and they just keep going and going. Late into a summers evening (if you go back out to check) you will see that they are still out there.

Basically, the life of a bumble-bee is one long, hard slog. You will never catch one of these little fellows shirking his duties. Think about it, how many times have you ever come across a bee having a crafty smoke behind one of your Dahlias? No, I didn’t think so.

They work so hard that it almost makes you feel guilty for just watching them, doesn’t it?

Perhaps my friends are right about me after all and I really do just have too much time on my hands…
