3D TV 4U?
It seems almost as if technology is going full circle sometimes. I can remember, as a child, the huge amount of excitement when there was a film shown on television in 3D. Everyone was bowled over by just how realistic everything became if you sat and watched a specially filmed programme whilst wearing cardboard glasses.
There were also a couple of movies that I went to see that were in 3D. The one that sticks in my mind was, ‘Jaws: The Revenge’; not because it blew me away, but because it was so crap.
And now, 3D looks as though it is going to be the next big thing for television. We have already had several films released in the format and computer games are being designed in the same way. But gone are the days of red and green glasses made from bendy card; the new wave of eyewear looks more like a pair of Ray-Bans.
I suppose the good thing about it all is that it will only be the transmissions that are going to change to begin with. It will not be necessary to go out and buy a special TV to view your programmes in 3D… yet. But when it does get to that point you can be sure that upgrading to a 3D set is not going to be cheap!
It makes you wonder just how far things are going to go with technology, doesn’t it? I wonder if it will ever reach a point when wearing glasses is not necessary to achieve the 3D effect? That will be the ultimate breakthrough I suppose. But the thought of seeing everything in HD 3D with high-tech sound is a little bit scary. After a while, we may just begin to forget what is or isn’t actually real…
And lastly, you guys should all really check out this Enigin blog, it has some really innovative ideas, I am really liking them right now.
